What to expect

Enjoy a relaxing evening journey aboard a traditional felucca boat, sailing the ancient waters of the Nile towards Luxor. Sit back and take in the city skyline magically lit up and enjoy the local snacks and refreshments onboard. Sayed, one of our local guides, says, ‘You’ll get a true taste for Egypt on a felucca and Luxor – one of Egypt’s has a different soul during the golden hour, it’s as if the spirits of the pharaohs come alive’.

After pick-up from your hotel, you’ll get ready to step aboard the traditional wooden felucca. As you glide along the Nile’s rippling water, your guide will bring the horizon to life. Sayed says, ‘Luxor is often called the world’s greatest open-air museum. It boasts many archaeological treasures as well as burial sites of famous pharaohs Tutankhamun and Ramses II.’ As you listen, savour the taste of delicious bananas cultivated in Luxor’s fertile soil, with snacks and a bottle of water.

Your serene cruise treats you to a stop at the Luxor Temple, one of the best-preserved monuments in the world. You’ll get to disembark here and walk up to the temple to admire its massive columns, statues and intricate carvings illuminated magically at night. It’s a photographer’s dream. Sayed says, ‘See the one obelisk at the entrance? Its counterpart can be found in Paris’s Place de la Concorde, gifted to King Louis Philippe in 1865 .
